The boundaries between fact and fiction are becoming increasingly blurred. And nowhere more so than in the film industry. The recent promotional tour for Wicked: For Good became a show in itself almost from the get-go. Basically, it was promoted in a tsunami of memes, viral videos and digital press articles that revolved around the relationship between protagonists Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

The new ‘Wuthering Heights’ adaptation couldn’t be more polarizing. Critics have branded it superficial, cold, and extravagant. Audiences, on the other hand, flocked to theaters to spend Valentine’s weekend swooning over the love story of Catherine and Heathcliff, played by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Videos of fans recreating the film’s promotional poster to throw themselves into Elordi’s arms or recording their reactions and tears in the theaters are a hit on social media. Licking, sighing, and white apologism: these are some of the most extreme reactions the film has generated.

Taylor Swift’s new album is disappointing

If you manage to make it through the thick and stifling forest of marketing deployed by Taylor Swift and defended by her praetorian guard of fans, there’s the music. And the music is offered in The Life of a Showgirl, her 12th album, released early Friday morning under a shroud of secrecy worthy of consideration. Swift kept everyone at bay, with barely a few leaks whose authenticity were unconfirmed: no one outside her circle had heard the album, and no advance songs had been released. We only had what little information the artist contributed in the podcast with her now fiancé, Travis Kelce, “the gym teacher” as she herself defined him. She announced a return to cheerful and catchy pop and only 12 tracks, and this last fact was underlined because of her propensity for long albums: her previous one, The Tortured Poets Department (2024), totals 31 tracks.

‘I can follow you like a dog to the end of the world’: The romantic hero is back, but not everyone is enamored

“I can follow you like a dog to the end of the world.” If it weren’t Jacob Elordi uttering it, this quote would be considered questionable. But the young heartthrob manages to make it sound relevant in the much-criticized trailer for the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights, which will be released in early 2026. Leaving aside the controversy surrounding Mr. Heathcliff not being played by an actor who matches Emily Brontë’s description of the character, the most curious thing is that a line like that doesn’t look out of place in 2025. On the contrary, it even seems that these declarations of love are trending thanks to the return of romantic comedies and period dramas. In the recent release Materialists, the climax came when Chris Evans’ character said: “When I see your face, I see wrinkles and children that look like you.” A quote that could almost have come from the mouth of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, considering that director Celine Song has acknowledged the direct influence she gleaned from Jane Austen’s work. Given this parade of gallantry, one might ask: is the romantic man back in fashion?

This morning, before his interview, Patrick Wolf, 41, went swimming in the North Sea. It’s what he does every day, from the beginning of spring until fall. Afterwards, he returned to his home in East Kent, a place where he arrived by pure chance a few years ago at, he says, “my lowest point of obscurity.” Up until that point, the London native had always been a city boy. “I used to live in a house [in London] by Waterloo station. But in the pandemic, I was forced out to the suburbs. For so much of my life, I’ve been really drawn to the places where my brain starts to rot, in the liminal spaces and suburbia, the places which aren’t one thing or the other. The black mold of my soul just crept in. I knew I couldn’t afford to go back to London, like many people can’t. I thought — and this was combined with sobriety as well — I’ve got to go somewhere where I can wake up in the morning with a sense of wonder and the thrill of looking around my environment. So, I went as far east of England that you could and found a little house here. I found an abandoned concrete hover port with all this nature. I just felt immediately, this is where I live now.”
