The 2022 World Cup was held in Qatar between November and December, with many matches scheduled at night to avoid the extreme heat. The next World Cup, set for 2026, will take place in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, between June and July. However, a biometeorological report published in Scientific Reports warns that many of the venues in 2026 face a high risk of excessive heat. In three of the venues, extreme heat stress could persist well into the afternoon, potentially reaching temperatures of up to 50ºC (122ºF). In the context of climate change, the report’s authors argue that measures will be needed to protect players from decreased performance or, in the worst case, health issues. Looking ahead to 2030, the World Cup will be held during the summer in countries like Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, which are also known for their high summer temperatures.

Seguir leyendo

Her favorite: “I go to the beach and show my tits because I’m European.” She has travelled a lot, and has realized that there are places where toplessness is frowned upon. One of those places is the United States: in some cities, it is forbidden for women to show their breasts in public. However, there are no restrictions on serving hamburgers or pints of beer in a bikini, a bra or clothes with a tight neckline. These businesses are very popular in the U.S. There are erotic burger joints and even places where lattes are served in by bikini-clad baristas.

Seguir leyendo

The founder of Amazon is leaving the city where he has spent most of his life and which he has transformed with the creation of his e-commerce empire. He announced it himself through his Instagram account.

In just 34 seconds, customers can enter an Amazon Go supermarket, grab a product and exit with their purchase, says an employee of the store in Seattle. How? No cashiers. At the entrance, a bright yellow sign cheerfully advertises “Breakfast sandwiches for $3.” It’s only half past seven in the morning, but customers steadily stream in and out with no waiting at the checkout counter.

Seguir leyendo

“Humans can be unpredictable; let the robot make your coffee” is the slogan of the Botbar coffee shop chain, which opened its first store in New York on June 10 in the trendy neighborhood of Greenpoint, at 666 Manhattan Avenue, a number that for the more esoteric could portend the dawn of a dystopia where dehumanization prevails. But for the bar’s founder, Denise Chung, the robots are here to help us and contribute to improving the quality of life for both baristas and customers. “I will still have some employees who will have to fill the machines with coffee beans and greet the customers. The mechanical part will be taken care of by the robot.” The Botbar has several tables and three machines where customers can place their order on a touch screen. Adam, a robot, is in charge of preparing their coffee (he can rustle up 50 per hour). “It’s an improvement for the community; instead of being served by a waiter who is tired of making 500 coffees a day, they will have a robot that ensures the coffee is made quickly and perfectly,” Chung adds.

Seguir leyendo
